Learn about the new invasive plants and forest pests of Illinois and how to get involved in monitoring and reporting invasive plants that are new to our region. Participants will learn how to identify target species that threaten our natural areas and how to monitor and report invasive species on the Early Detection and Distribution Mapping System (EDDMapS.org) and how this program results in on-the-ground control of many early detection plant populations. This program is part of Illinois Invasive Species Awareness Month, a statewide effort held each May to educate and inform citizens of Illinois about the threat of invasive species.
