Invasive Species: Pathways, Process, Impacts and Prevention

February 15, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join the Florida Wildflower Foundation on Wednesday, February 15 at 2pm EST as Dr. Deah Lieurance walks us through the steps a non-native species takes towards becoming an invasive species, including the pathways for arrival, what facilitates establishment and spread of the species, and a range of negative impacts to the environment, economy and to human health. She will discuss how risk and status assessments of non-native species and horizon scanning for potential invaders can help prevent the next big biological invasion and help preserve Florida’s natural areas.

Presented by Dr. Deah Lieurance, UF/IFAS Extension Scientist and Assessment Coordinator, NAISMA Board Member
