Asheville, NC Proclaims Invasive Species Awareness Week

February 14 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

At the Asheville City Council Meeting on February 14, 2023, at 5 p.m., city council will proclaim February 20 – 26, 2023 Invasive Species Awareness Week in Asheville.

Raven Invasive Plant Management, a NAISMA member, was instrumental in getting the proclamation in front of the city council, with support from Asheville’s oldest non-profit Asheville GreenWorks. Raven Invasive Plant Management is donating services during Invasive Species Awareness Week to work on projects in Asheville where trees and native plants are under threat. Additionally, through a grant from the City of Asheville to Montford Neighborhood Association, Raven crew members will begin to clear a stretch of land along the Reed Creek Greenway. Raven will be on-site to educate community members and volunteers about the threats of non-native invasive plants, as well as the company’s means of dealing with invasives that involve no chemicals. Raven Invasive Plant Management uses mechanical methods, such as tools and our hands, to remove invasive plants and manage succession.
